HOOP EVENTS IN 2009
Hooping is really gaining popularity, with workshops, classes and events taking off all over the UK.Here at Hoopswhirled we have been busy updating our website with news of classes and events, as well as adding details of our sister sites: www.nakedhoops.co.uk and www.hoopdance.co.uk.
Lots of hoop events and happenings throughout 2009 - check our Calendar page for more details.
Hoopswhirled held a two hour hoop workshop at the Haltwhistle Swimming and Leisure Centre on Saturday 19th September 2009. We had a fantastic turnout with everyone who took part showing tremendous enthusiasm and a willingness to play. There were some truly lovely moments and we are delighted it went so well. A big thank you to the Ian at HSLC who helped organise the workshop and to Aaron who provided such cheerful assistance on the day.
Photos to follow soon!
The Make a Change event in Haringey on 27th July brought a chance for more hooping with a brief display and workshops through the afternoon in the sunshine. Everyone was laughing and having fun - a great afternoon.
Hoop classes during July 2009 - Brent Dance Month
We held two consecutive Tuesday evening classes at at Patidar House in Wembley, on 7th and 14th July.
There is a lot of interest in West London and we are looking for suitable venues to run a longer course.
Hoopswhirled brought hooping to the Lee Valley Festival again this year, on Sunday 21st June.
Our 'come and try' workshops offered a flavour of hooping that everyone could try. We had all kinds of people coming through and even those who believed they couldn't hoop were surprised at how much they picked up.
On the 13th June we found ourselves in Chalcot Square for their annual fete. This was a much larger event than we realised and we were flat out with hoops and hoopers all afternoon. Fantastic weather and a great atmosphere.
Two new workshops are on offer - on 9th and 10th May.
The Hoopdance Experience workshop on 9th May is for those new to hooping or those who want to develop more confidence while learning some cool moves. Full details can be found on the Hoopdance Experience website, including how to book. This workshop will co-facilitated by Diana Defries and Sharna Rose Bevan. The venue is very close to Tufnell Park tube station, so is easy to reach by public transport.
On 10th May the first Hoop Sensation workshop will run where more experienced hoopers are invited to deepen their awareness of their movements, sensations and coordination. This workshop is intended to help you find new perspectives on hooping. Please click here for details and to book a place.
Our regular once a month Sunday Hoop Club is continuing to attract hoopers from near and far and celebrates its first anniversary in February 2009! As with all hoop gatherings, people are encouraged to come and share space with one another and explore possibilities, whether for fitness, spiritual growth or just for fun. We can all learn from each other!
Other events are listed on our Calendar and on our London Hula Hoopers page on Meetup.com.
2009 has already brought so many new events hooping - looking forward to the remainder as it unfolds.
Check back regularly for details of other 2009 hoop events!
